
Dennis Baciuc is an award winning trumpet player, composer and educator carving a name for himself in the vibrant music scene of New York City.
His trumpet sound is pure and expressive, inspired by the lineage of musicians that came before him, while continually pushing the boundaries of creativity into the sounds of tomorrow. As a well versed musician, Dennis can be heard playing with his own group, the Dennis Baciuc Quintet in addition to being a sideman with the Russel Scarbrough Jazz Ensemble, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Kevin Murphy (Jazz) Orchestra, the Gap Mangione Big Band and the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra
Dennis holds degrees from the Eastman School of music and the University of Northern Colorado. He has had the fortune of studying under the tutelage of artists such as Greg Gisbert, Clay Jenkins, Christine Jensen, Gary Versace, Jeremy Pelt, Ingrid Jensen, and Bill Dobbins. From both institutions, Dennis received multiple Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards for his involvement with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, and UNC Jazz Lab Band 1. Quickly upon graduating from Eastman, Dennis was asked to join the trumpet section of the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra touring Internationally as well as across all four corners of the United States. He can be heard as a featured soloist on their latest recording Live! In Las Vegas.
With many awards and accolades under his belt, Dennis has earned national recognition as an up and coming young artist and has earned praises from Downbeat Magazine, the International Trumpet Guild, and the National Trumpet Competition (USA). In 2020, Dennis qualified for the live rounds of the National Trumpet Competition as a classical soloist performing in the undergraduate division. In 2023, Dennis was a semi-finalist for the Jazz division of the ITG Ryan Anthony Memorial trumpet competition. That same year, the Eastman School of Music awarded him with the Raymond and Maxine Schimer Prize in Jazz Performance.
Passionate for education and mentorship, Dennis maintains an active private studio teaching trumpet pedagogy, jazz improvisation and theory, and composition and arranging lessons. He holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education and has been a jazz trumpet instructor and teaching assistant for the Birch Creek Summer Music Academy. During his graduate studies, Dennis was an instructor of secondary jazz trumpet and was the assistant director of the Eastman Jazz Lab Band.
